I need to know 2 things: Are kidney cleanses safe? Are liver cleases safe?

I bought a kidney cleans. The directions mention that you take the pills for two weeks, then stop for two weeks etc. The dosage is two pills in the morning and two pills before bed with a meal. I took the recommended dosage and it actually makes my kidney's ache. I reduced it to one pill in the morning and one pill before bed. I don't get the same aching but if I don't drink water or eat I will ache still. If I drink plenty of water I'm fine but still the aching part........doesn't seem like a good thing.

I would like to try the liver cleans next also but how do I know these cleanses are safe for me. I shouldn't have any aching.I need to know 2 things: Are kidney cleanses safe? Are liver cleases safe?
Your body is telling you something, ';Stop putting this crap in me. I can cleanse myself!';

Do you even know what was in those pills?

Edit: I literally laughed out loud at the answer two below me. Dislodged a large chunk of stuff that is now lodged in her kidney??? Talk about misinformation.I need to know 2 things: Are kidney cleanses safe? Are liver cleases safe?
I'll keep this short. If you want to alkalize then checkout the following site:

This is the best site I know for cheap, free alklizing remedies that work. Read the blogs and testimonials.

If you want to help your kidneys, liver and gut go to these sites and read the research:

Natural is always gentle and the best way.

Such ';cleanses'; are not safe....only profitable for companies that sell them and the scamming, pseudo educated, self proclaimed expert ';product specialists'; who promote them.
Yes, they are safe depending on the company's reputation you got them from.

I've not done a kidney cleanse. I would say pain is from cleansing too fast.

My colon was messed up for years %26amp; I've done several colon cleanses. I've never had pain from them, actually the opposite as it is a healing experience. I prefer Richard Schulze's cleanses @ 1-800-herb-doc although I'm sure there are other ones out there that work well. His cleanse has really helped my colon heal.

Some cleanses say don't eat, but not all. Check the instructions with yours or call the company with any questions.

You should be drinking a lot of water on any type of cleansing program.

I wouldn't go by an MD's advise on herbs - that's not their field of knowledge. Find a naturopathic Dr. for better advice.
READ THIS....

Do you really want to do a good safe liver and kidney cleanse? Well you in luck. There are some perfect cleansers sitting at your supermarket. Now pay attention, LEMON, LIMES and WATERMELON. Nothing and I mean nothing on the world will cleanse like these 3 will. Proven fact, look it up.

Now pay attention, your body is made up of a alkaline and acid compound, the foods we eat are either one or the other. Many people put lemon and limes into a citrus acidifying category. Not true, once digested, lemon and limes turn to alkaline and naturally cleanse the liver and kidneys.

As for you aching, this is not uncommon at all, now that you are trying to cleanses these two organs your breaking up all the toxins once stored in there from the foods you have eaten. You may even feel as if your getting a cold with a stuffy noise as well. That's the toxins leaving your body.

You could simple juice these guys and places them in a water bottle with filtered water and have fresh lemon or lime aid and be cleansing your self at the same time.

Also, try to buy organic if you can. Don't use bottled juice , make sure it comes right from the fruit.
Wow, there's a lot of misinformation out there. Yes, both are safe to take as long as they are from companies with good quality standards.

If the kidney cleanse made your kidneys hurt (and it was from a good quality company), that means one of two things.....

1) You had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients

2) You actually loosened a big chunk of something that was stuck in your body that needed to be cleansed out, but it was too big and got lodged in your kidney somewhere.

It's probably not a coincidence that the pain happened at the same time, so I won't address that. One of the easiest ways to determine which problem it likely was would be to ask one question...... when did you experience pain? Was it only shortly after you took the pill and lasted a short time, or was it at various times of the day and/or prolonged periods. If it was only when you took the pills, then it's likely an allergic reaction.

The Kidneys and Liver are both organs responsible for cleaning your body (which I'm sure everyone reading this knows).... but in this day and age with all the garbage and processed foods we put in our mouths and all the pollution in the water, air, and ground (which all get into our food), many people need to help the cleansing once in a while.

In many people's diets, their Kidneys and Liver just can't handle how much they have to clean out and get weakened from over use (which is just one reason that Kidney and Liver problems are as rampant as they are). Cleaning them out and/or supporting their health are the only ways to correct that type of problem aside from diet/lifestyle change (which most people aren't willing to do).

My first suggestion would be to stop taking that cleanser. Call the company and ask them to backup and prove their quality to you (ask them what rating they have received from the GMP or USP) if you don't already know their quality level. Check the ingredients in the product... you may want to check with an allergist to see if any of them set you off (if that's an option). Otherwise, a liver cleanse should have completely different ingredients and shouldn't have the same ingredients if you had a reaction to one (I'd compare the ingredients before getting it, though).
Where in the world did you get this stuff, I doubt that they were from a Doctor. The kidneys and Liver need to take care of you not you take care of them. I would never touch something like this unless they were per scribed by a Urologist or a Inter nest.
They can be done safely, but you have to very careful about what products you use. Are these cleanses formulated with standardized extracts? I'm guessing they probably are. I don't like using standardized extract because you end up with side effects and a lot of other undesired outcomes. You really have to treat them like pharmaceuticals in that form. Of course caution should be exercised anyway, but when using whole herbs you decrease the chance of side effects or bad reaction down to slim to none, especially if administered properly. I would recommend using some tonic herbs, before trying a cleanse. What that means is, get those body systems into shape and working properly before trying a cleanse. If you are not in good health when doing cleanses you can actually make yourself pretty sick. Tonic herbs for kidney are dandelion root %26amp; nettles, for the liver milk thistle seed, burdock root, and licorice root. With the latter, I'd recommend capsules or tincture. Mountain Rose Herbs is a great source for purchasing what you need online. Very reliable company. Good luck!
